✨ Please note: Online payments are available on the Lite plan or above.

If you have integrated Stripe with your account, your customers can choose to pay using Link. Once set up, no further action is needed in your Bookwhen account, and you can manage this feature through Stripe.

Your Bookwhen account will reflect your Stripe settings, so if Link or any other payment methods are enabled, your customers can select from them.

This article covers:

What is Link?

Stripe’s Link feature provides your customers with a faster checkout experience. During checkout, customers can create a Link profile to save their payment details. This allows their card information and addresses to be automatically filled in for future purchases.

💡 To note: Link is available in both the iframe and your standalone Bookwhen public page.

Link Processing Fees

If you choose to use Link, you can benefit from reduced card processing fees.

  • In the UK, Link by Stripe processes card payments starting at 1.2% + £0.20 per transaction.

Please note: Stripe recently announced a price increase. Starting on 17th June 2025, the processing fees for Link payments will match their card pricing fees.

How does Link work?

How Link auto-fills customer information:

  1. Save Payment Information
Customers can opt to save their payment details at checkout.

  2. One-Click Payments
Link automatically fills in saved payment details for easy, one-click checkouts on future purchases.

  3. Account Verification
When using Link on a new site or device, customers will receive a one-time SMS code to verify their identity and ensure secure payments.

Switching Link on for your bookers

To enable Link on your Stripe account:

  1. Log into your Stripe account and go to your Link settings.

  2. Under Link for Payment Request Button, toggle Enable Link for your platform.

  3. Under Link in Checkout, toggle Enable Link in Checkout.

  4. Go to Payment Methods settings and toggle Turn on for Link under Wallets.

✨ You can share this article with your customers on how to checkout using Link.

How Link is displayed upon checkout

At first glance, the payment page looks like for regular Stripe payments:

Payment collection screen showing placeholders for Card number, Expiration date, Security code, Country and Postal code plus green "Pay £10.00" button

Once all details, such as the Card number, Expiration date, Security code, Country and Postal code, are completed, the view will be expanded, including the Link option.

Payment collection screen showing blurred out details for Card number, Expiration date, Security code, Country and Postal code and highlighted rectangle with masked personal details plus green "Pay £10.00" button

💡 Please note: The secure 1-click checkout with Link is optional. However, if customers decide to provide their phone number, they agree to the Link account creation based on their Terms and Privacy Policy.

For customers with an existing Link account based on the booker email address, the payment collection will default to the verification via Link:

Payment collection screen showing highlighted rectangle with blurred contact details and text fields for verification code as well as placeholders for Card number, Expiration date, Security code, Country and Postal code plus green "Pay £10.00" button

The verification process typically defaults to text via the mobile number linked to the Link account.

💡 If the contact or card details are no longer up to date, customers can update their information with Link.

After entering the 6-digit verification code, the card details will be populated automatically based on the info stored within Link:

Payment collection screen showing blurred personal and card details plus green "Pay £10.00" button

Selecting the green Pay button should complete the payment and checkout.
