There are three ways to limit how many tickets your customers can purchase for an event:
Maximum event size: Sets an overall capacity limit for the event.
Number of tickets available: Restricts the number available per ticket type.
Maximum tickets per booking: Limits how many tickets a customer can purchase in a single booking (e.g., one ticket per booking).
This article covers:
Maximum event size
This setting determines the maximum capacity of your event.
To find this setting:
Add a new entry or select your entry from your scheduling list, then Edit entry:
Select the Tickets & Costs tab. The first field that appears under Attendees is Maximum event size:
For example, if your event has a total capacity of 10 spaces, you can set the limit to 10. This means customers can purchase up to 10 tickets across all ticket types, as long as the total doesn't exceed the overall capacity.
Number of tickets available
This setting lets you control how many tickets are available for each ticket type.
It's useful if your event offers multiple ticket options and you want to set specific availability for each.
For example, if your event has a total capacity of 30, you could set a limit of:
10 VIP tickets and
20 standard tickets.
This ensures the availability of each ticket type stays within your overall capacity.
To find this setting:
Add a new entry or select your entry from your scheduling list, then Edit entry:
Select the Tickets & Costs tab.
In the ticket setup, add the number limit under Number of tickets available:
If you are using this setting for the multiple ticket option, select the pencil and paper 📝 icon next to each ticket to open the ticket setup:
💡 To note:
The Maximum event size overrides the number of tickets available if it's set to a lower amount.
For example, if the maximum event size is 10 and the number of tickets available is 15, bookings will be capped at 10.
If the Number of tickets available is less than the maximum event size, customers can only book the set number of tickets.
For example, if the number of tickets available is 10 but the maximum event size is 15, only 10 tickets can be booked.
The system ensures the event never oversells beyond the number specified in the Maximum event size field.
Maximum tickets per booking
This setting limits how many tickets a customer can purchase in a single booking.
For example, if you set this to 1, customers can only buy 1 ticket per date/time for this entry in a single booking.
💡 Default setting: The limit is set to 10 by default, but you can adjust this based on your requirements.
To find this setting:
Add a new entry or select your entry from your scheduling list, then Edit entry:
Select the Tickets & Costs tab, scroll down to the Restrictions section, then the Maximum tickets per booking field:
The Maximum tickets per booking setting is helpful for managing ticket sales for popular events. It allows you to:
Limit ticket purchases: Prevent customers from buying too many tickets at once.
Create a 'list-only' entry. Set the limit to 0 to restrict ticket purchases entirely, enabling customers to join a waiting list instead.
