✨ Please note: Discount sets, costs, and payments are available on the Lite plan or above. The official voucher feature is only available on the Standard plan or above.

Redeemable codes let you offer customers a way to book your events with a set discount or value. You can control how often each code can be used and who can redeem it.

This article explains how to create, sell, and manage redeemable codes to encourage bookings and reward your customers.

Creating the discount code

  1. Select Packages & Discounts, then Discounts from the left-hand menu on your account.

  2. Select Create a discount set.

  3. Add any relevant details to the set, then select Add a discount code:

  4. Add the codes, select Fixed amount under Type of discount, the Discount amount and expiry date.

  5. We recommend that you enter "1" under How many times can this code me used? to ensure the discount code can only be used once.

  6. Select Add codes to save the code(s) to the set, then Save changes to save the overall set.

To note:

  • You can apply discount codes to a pass instead of a ticket, and create multiple codes at once by separating them with a comma.

  • To help prevent codes from being guessed, such as CODE1 or CODE2, consider using random alphanumeric codes. You can generate these using a third-party tool by searching online for a random code generator, and keep a record in a dedicated document for easy reference.

  • Codes are NOT case-sensitive.

Creating a discount code entry

Once you have created the code, you can then create an entry specifically for the purchase. To do this:

  1. Open your Scheduling page.

  2. Select Create an entry:

Scheduling page with arrow pointing at the ‘Create an entry’ button.

  3. Select the Information tab, enter the Name of the entry and a Description to help explain the entry to your customers:

  4. Set the Location as No location, and make the entry a 365-day duration to ensure it sits at the top of your schedule:

  5. Select Save to save the duration to the entry.

  6. Select the Tickets & Costs tab and leave the Maximum event size field blank. Then select Create ticket:

Tickets & Costs tab within the entry settings with an arrow pointing at the 'Create ticket' button

  7. Add the name of the ticket and a relevant description.

  8. Select Has cost under Pricing, then add the cost in the pricing field.

  9. Once ready, select Save ticket to save the ticket to the entry:

    • You will need to repeat this step for all values.

    • We recommend ensuring you only enable the online payment option to make the sales easier to manage:

Payment options section with an arrow pointing at the 'Enforce online payment' option

  10. Select the Booking form tab, then Select & reorder fields and use the plus and minus icons to add/remove any relevant booking fields to the entry:

    • Your customers can make multiple bookings on an entry using the same 'booker' email, but not the same attendee email.

    • For this reason, we recommend removing the attendee email booking form field for this entry and keeping only the booker email field.

  11. Select Save form to save the booking form, then Save or Save & Exit to save the entry.

How the discount code entry appears on the public page

If you set the duration as a 365-day entry, it will appear at the top of your schedule on the public page for a year.

For example:

How customers purchase the discount code

To purchase the code, the customer must select the entry from your public booking page and the code they would like to purchase. Once purchased, you can email them their code.

Via PayPal or Stripe

You can invite customers to pay a chosen amount by linking to a general 'send money' function provided by your payment processor (e.g. PayPal, Stripe).

When you receive a payment for a code, create a unique discount code for that value (e.g. £15) and share it with the customer to use when booking.

💡 Please note: If a customer cancels a ticket purchased with a code, a new code will not be generated automatically. Depending on your terms and conditions, you may need to issue a new code manually.

Redemptions

Difference between our voucher feature and discount codes

A standard Voucher (Standard plan or higher) can be used across multiple bookings until the full balance is spent. It does not need to be redeemed in a single transaction.

If you use the discount code, the system won’t automatically store any remaining credit. Please only offer this if you're happy to manage any remaining balance manually.
